Controlling the video sources during the event
For your event, in addition to your live video, you have the opportunity to present other videos and overlays to the participants. For example, you can start with a preroll in the form of advertising, then show a welcome greeting before the start of the live stream (preplay), after the actual live stream you say goodbye to the participants with a postplay board and record the live broadcast directly on the server (live recording). We recommend setting up at least one preplay and one postplay board for the live stream.
1. At the beginning of the event day, select the first video that you want to show and save with > save and publish.
2. It is best to switch to your live video 30 minutes to an hour before the official start of the live broadcast in order to be able to resolve technical problems with a time buffer in an emergency. Save your selection with > save and publish.
3. After the live broadcast has ended, wait a few more minutes to ensure that all participants can follow the broadcast through to the end. (Latencies or delays of up to a few minutes can occur due to proxy servers.) Then switch to your postplay video.
(!) Set up a blackboard or video loop separately for your live channel in your directing tool or with your directing service provider for shortly before and shortly after the live broadcast, if you have already selected your live video in the CMS or are still in live mode but the transmission has ended. In this way, you can publish your live video in the CMS (ideally at least 30 minutes) before the start of the live broadcast and check whether the technical broadcast is working – without the participants seeing a black screen.
(!!) If you are recording the live broadcast, set the keyframe to 1 second (not 0) while recording. You can then cut the recording on the server side. See > recording / record on the server and > cutting videos.
