Go live early – no auto-refresh if there are high numbers of participants
The IMS Project Manager offers you the “save and publish” function to update the project content for all participants with one command. This function is often used e. g. to switch from a preplay / welcome vod to the live stream. The program behind it is called “auto-refresh”, which means that browser content is automatically updated or reloaded.
This reloading (at the same time and for all participants) of the entire project can lead to an extreme load peak on the server side with a high number of participants (> 1,000), since the process is initiated for all participants within a second. We can deactivate the “auto-refresh” function to prevent selective overload.
You can of course continue to use the “save and publish” function, but any new content will no longer be automatically updated for the participants who have already loaded the project in their browser. A manual update of the individual browser content (f5-key) is still possible for every participant.
(!) Our recommendation is: Go live with the project (especially the live stream in the video window) early enough (at least 30 minutes before the start of the event)!
