Live control: show and hide windows without a project refresh
With this function you can show or hide individual windows or window functions during a live event.
Use this to open any window e. g. to make it visible or available for notes, links or functions only at a certain point in time in the project and then to hide them again if necessary. Other window contents are not updated for the participants with this function (no hard-refresh).
1. Open the relevant > window > settings > live control and activate the function (green = control active, gray = control not active).
2. Save the setting with > save & publish.
3. Control is now possible via another symbol without having to open the module window settings. (Green = window visible, red = window not visible)
Each click creates a new window status (visible / not visible), which is updated in the participant’s browser window via our “auto-refresh” system in a time interval of 1 to a maximum of 10 seconds.
The update takes place independently of the settings in > video – i.e. even without a live stream or vod being available. In addition, no additional > saving of the window concerned or > saving and publishing of the entire project is necessary – it is rather expressly not recommended during a live event.
(!) The use of the function requires special attention and knowledge!
The function should not be used in the video window or only after checking all effects and without activating the “autostart” setting, since browser functions such as the playback of audio cannot be influenced.
(!!) This function is designed exclusively for live operation. It is not suitable for permanently deactivating windows or window functions. In order to always hide windows that are not required, the > do not show / hide window (eye window icon) (green = window visible, red = window not visible) should be used.
(!!!) The use of this function is very cpu intensive due to the “auto-refresh” process. We therefore reserve the right to increase the “refresh interval” for projects with over 1,000 participants in order to minimize peak loads on the server systems.
